Red Sky in the Morning, Shepherd’s Delight

Circle Electrical Ltd has recently completed a lighting upgrade at Broadmead Baptist Church, bringing new life to the illuminated cross overlooking the Broadmead skyline.
The project involved installing a new dedicated supply to the rooftop, with our team working from scaffolding and navigating the church’s plant room to route the system safely and efficiently. The new high-efficiency LED installation now gives the cross a bright, reliable glow and helps it stand out across the city, particularly against those dramatic Bristol sunsets.
In true site-work fashion, the job came with an unexpected twist: a baby seagull nesting on the rooftop. The young gull hadn’t quite fledged, so commissioning had to wait until nature gave us the all-clear. Once our feathered neighbour took flight, we were able to complete testing and bring the cross fully online.
Director Myles Reuben said, “It’s a privilege to help Broadmead Baptist Church refresh such an important landmark. The cross is a symbol of hope for many, and now it shines brighter than ever.”
We’re excited to continue our work with the church as we move into the next phase, developing the entrance atrium and installing a new infrared heating system in the Sanctuary. There’s plenty more to come, so watch this space.
